Now available on Digital, The Arborist centers on Ellie (Lucy Walters), an arborist who is hired by Arthur Randolph (Will Lyman) to fell the trees on his remote state. Written and directed by Andrew Mudge (The Forgotten Kingdom), The Arborist co-stars Hudson West as Ellie’s son Wyatt.

Although he was interested in the premise, Bruce Purkey did not recommend The Arborist.
”There’s a lot of elements here, that turned just the right way, could have made this a really interesting, cool little horror movie,” said Purkey. “But unfortunately it just never quite goes there. I think the production values are good. The direction is fine. I think the writing is the real weakness here.”

That said, the plotline of an arborist (Power actress Lucy Walters) and son (Hudson West) whose lives are upended by a well to do recluse (Will Lyman) has me curious. I wasn’t able to fit The Arborist into my schedule last week, but may add this film to this week’s CinemAddicts reviews.
