Directed and written by Bryn Chainey, Rabbit Trap centers on Darcy (Dev Patel) a sound engineer who, along with his musician wife Daphne (Rosy McEwen), capture a sound that may not be meant for human ears. A strange child (Jade Croot) enters their life in the Welsh countryside. This new relationship, coupled with their audio discovery, leads to a dramatic shift in their lives. “(Darcy and Daphne) are recording unusual events,” said Bruce Purkey, who described the environment as ‘magic’ and ‘mysterious.’ “They’re having periods where they might pass out because of the sounds. There’s this unknown stranger (Jade Croot) who shows up out of nowhere and starts giving them information. And you’ve got possible supernatural creatures in the forest.”

Although Bruce ended up enjoying and thereby “mildly” recommending Rabbit Trap, the third act left him wanting. The feature marks Bryn Chainey’s feature directing debut.
