Filmgoers in need of a cinematic fix that doesn’t involve big budgeted blockbusters might want to head out to Hollywood this weekend for the Dances with Films Festival. Those Left Behind, headlined by Daphne Zuniga (The Sure Thing, TV’s Melrose Place) and Michael Hogan (TV’s Battlestar Galactica) makes its West Coast premiere Sunday evening at the fest.

Directed by two time Peabody award winning filmmaker Maria Finitzo, the narrative centers on a fractured family that is still haunted by their son’s suicide, a tragedy that occurred over 25 years ago. The narrative is the first project from Finitzo’s Chicago based production company FilmArts Productions. Debra Mooney (Everwood) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) also star in the independent feature.
“After a successful career as a documentary filmmaker, moving into fiction filmmaking was a natural evolution of my commitment to exploring different realms of storytelling,” stated Finitzo. “I’m thrilled to have Those Left Behind chosen by Dances with Films and look forward to sharing this film with Los Angeles audiences.”
The screening takes place Sunday, June 12 at 9:30 at the TLC Chinese Theatres, and members of the cast and crew of Those Left Behind will attend the event.
