The third season of the beloved series Cobra Kai is just around the corner (January 2021), and the official trailer has dropped. I’m excited beyond belief, as the trailer confirms the return of The Karate Kid II characters Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto)!

The high school brawl in the second season left both dojos in disarray, and Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) was seriously injured from the incident. Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) tries his best to literally get Miguel back on his feet, and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) looks to his past (hence the appearance of Kumiko and Chozen) for a few answers.
Seeing Daniel reunite with Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) should be a highlight of season three, and the continuing maturation of Johnny Lawrence will also be a huge part of the storytelling. It will also be interesting to see how Robby (Tanner Buchanan) attempts to rebound from the nearly fatal encounter with Miguel.
As a San Fernando Valley resident from the 1980s through to present day, Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid universe is right up my ally. It’s great to see the series continue to thrive on Netflix, and I’m hoping the third season continues on the show’s dedication to high level entertainment and storytelling.
