As a fan of Vera Cruz, The Dirty Dozen, Ulzana’s Raid, The Big Knife, and Kiss Me Deadly, I am looking forward to Kino Lorber Studio Classics’ release of Apache and Attack!. Both films debut December 1 on Blu-ray.
Apache features Burt Lancaster as Massai, a warrior who reforces to surrender even though the U.S. Cavalry are overwhelming his men. Directed by Robert Aldrich, the 1954 feature co-stars Jean Peters (Viva Zapata!) John McIntire (Horizons West), and Charles Bronson (Once Upon A Time in the West). The Blu-ray comes with the original trailer and English subtitles. Lancaster is excellent in Aldrich’s Vera Cruz and Ulzana’s Raid. Watching Lancaster and Aldrich team up for another Western is a must watch for me.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Released in 1956, Attack! is a World War II yarn featuring Jack Palance (Ten Seconds to Hell), Lee Marvin (The Dirty Dozen), Eddie Albert (The Gun Runners) and Richard Jaeckel (Ulzana’s Raid, The Dirty Dozen).
Palance stars as Lieutenant Joe Costa, an officer who discovers his men perished due to the irresponsible leadership of their commander Captain Cooney (Albert). Director Robert Aldrich and Palance had a successful collaboration a year earlier in the 1955 showbiz film The Big Knife. The Blu-ray comes with the theatrical trailer and English subtitles.
