CinemAddicts Episode 329 covers movies that are coming out the week of Friday, January 30, 2026. New films reviewed include the Jason Statham action thriller Shelter, the film noir Islands, the Milla Jovovich/Luke Evans futuristic tale Worldbreaker, and the B-flick Grizzly Night. Check out our podcast on different platforms below and read our post for more info on these movies!

Shelter features Jason Statham plays a mysterious man living alone on a Scottish island. When tragedy strikes, he takes care of a young girl while also eluding an asssassin (Bryan Vigier) who’s hot on their trail. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, Shelter co-stars Bill Nighy as a corrupt government agent and Naomi Ackie as his thankfully less morally bankrupt colleague. Although my favorite part of Shelter dealt with the opening act, the rest of the tense, action packed narrative had me engaged. My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½.
Check out my Shelter review on CinemAddicts starting at the 7:16 mark:
Directed by Burke Doeren, Grizzy Night is a survival thriller that is based on true events. Running at 87 minutes, the feature stars Charles Esten, Oded Fehr, Brec Bassinger and Jack Griffo. Co-host Eric Holmes expected a B-movie guilty pleasure with Grizzly Night but he discovered the movie also had a serious undertone. The feature is now available On Demand and Digital. Eric’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Check out his review at the 14:33 mark:

My top recommendation this week is the film noir thriller Islands. That said, it’s co-host Bruce Purkey who handles the review duties on the episode. The narrative centers on a world weary tennis coach (Sam Riley) who becomes involved in the complex lives of a married couple (Jack Farthing, Stacy Martin). Directed by Jan-Ole Gerster, Islands is first rate escapist fare, and it’s a beautiful watch thanks to its Fuerteventura setting. The feature is now playing in theaters. Bruce’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Listen to Bruce’s review at the 44:05 mark:

Worldbreaker, directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist), is a sci-fi action thriller that stars Luke Evans, Bille Boullet, and Milla Jovovich. The story centers on Willa (Boullet), a teenager who learns from her dad (Evans) how to be a survivor and a warrior in a world filled with creatures known as the Breakers. Jovovich plays Willa’s mother.
Eric Holmes and I reviewed the film, which is actually more of a coming-of-age story than a pure sci-fi actioner. Worldbreaker is now playing in theaters. Eric’s Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This month’s Patreon bonus episode features reviews of the 2014 films A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and Starred Up. We also did an assigned pick from 2014 for our regular episode, and that movie is The Guest. I loved it ( ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½) but Bruce (⭐️⭐️) and Eric (⭐️) were not fans! Eric and I review at 18:32 and Bruce covers it at the end of the episode (53:32).
