It’s a foregone conclusion that Creed II will be a box office smash, and during the film’s premiere headliner Michael B. Jordan talked about what he loved about the latest installment.

On the surface, Creed II (directed by The Land filmmaker Steven Caple Jr.) is a revenge story about Adonis Jordan’s (Michael B. Jordan) vindictive match against Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu). Viktor’s dad Ivan (Dolph Lundgren) killed Adonis’ dad Apollo in the ring back in Rocky IV, and now Adonis wants a little payback. Of course Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) is back as Adonis’ mentor with Tessa Thompson also returning as the pugilist’s ride or die soulmate Bianca.
“It’s a very layered film with a nuanced relationship,” said Jordan. “(It has) a love story. A little bit of revenge, action. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you angry. It will keep you on the edge of your seats.
