Babylon, penned by Damien Chazelle, is described as “a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess.” Towards the end of the trailer, Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie) offers to fight a snake, proving that anything can happen at a Hollywood party!
The ensemble cast includes Jean Smart, Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Katherine Waterston, Samara Weaving, Jovan Adepo, Olivia Wilde, and Li Jun Li. The award winning La La Land was a love letter to Los Angeles and such musicials as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. It will be interesting to see how much D.W. Griffith and/or Cecil B. Demille’s aesthetic influences Babylon.
