Journey will release Freedom, their first album of new songs in over a decade, on July 8 via BMG. The album, which is available for pre-order, is led off by the single “You Got The Best of Me.”
Freedom, according to Neal Schon, originated from the inevitable time spent at home during the past several years. “During the pandemic, there wasn’t much to do,” said Schon. “I spent a lot of time in my little studio at home, learning how to play keyboards and looping. Some of those ideas ended up being songs. So it kind of came out of nowhere.”
The album consists of 15 songs: “Together We Run,” “Don’t Give Up On Us,” “Still Believe In Love,” “You Got The Best Of Me,” “Live To Love Again,” “The Way We Used To Be,” “Come Away With Me,” “After Glow,” Let It Rain,” “Holdin On,” “All Day and All Night,” “Don’t Go,” “United We Stand,” “Life Rolls On,” and “Beautiful As You Are.”
Joining the Journey members (Schon, keyboard player Jonathan Cain, singer Arnel Pineda) for the album is bassist Randy Jackson. The outfit previously worked with Jackson on their 1986 album Raised on Radio.
