Jamie Lee and Sophia Ali star in the new Hollywood set comedy/thriller Above The Line. The feature centers on six individuals who have had their dreams dashed by crooked producer Jack Woodrow (Gregg Henry). Lee and Ali talked to Deepest Dream about the 90-minute tale, which is now available on Digital and On Demand.

Above The Line centers on six individuals who have a bone to pick with corrupt producer Jack Woodrow (Gregg Henry), and they meet at a mansion to plot a heist of his awards. A mysterious figure brought all of these strangers together. If they pull off the robbery, each of them will earn a ton of money. Directed and co-written by Jeffrey Scott Collins, the ensemble includes Jackson Pace, Cedric the Entertainer, Dylan Playfair, Suzy Nakamura, Reno Wilson, and Adhir Kalyah.
Jamie Lee stars as Dame, a person who had a particularly abusive exchange with Woodrow. For Lee, a two time Emmy Winning writer/executive producer from Ted Lasso, Above The Line is not just a Hollywood tale. “I definitely think there’s a lot of truth in it. I think people even outside of our industry will find relatable,” said Lee. “We all love a revenge story.”
“Anyone that finds themselves in that position is probably going to act insanely outrageous,” added Ali, who plays Princess, a screenwriter who also got screwed over by Woodrow.
The advantages of working on indie driven projects is, according to Ali, “the allure of no boundaries, no rules” where one is not under microscopic scrutiny from a major studio. That said, Lee was under the weather for a portion of production. “I don’t know if you remember this Sophia, but I was so sick one day,” said Lee. “Like coughing, sneezing – I probably shouldn’t have been around people. But there was a point where I was like ‘we have to get this done.’ I was just chugging DayQuil on set and trying to stay away from people and not breathe on anybody.”
