The trailer to Wish, a Walt Disney Animation Studios feature, has been released. The picture, according to director Fawn Veerasunthorn, is inspired by Disney animated classics from the past.

The trailer introduces us to 17-year-old Asha (Ariana DeBose), her pet goat Valentino (Alan Tudyk), King Magnifico (Chris Pine), and Star, a celestial ball of energy that is called down from the sky via Asha’s wish. A snippet of “This Wish,” performed by DeBose, is featured in the trailer. It’s one of several new songs penned by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice.

STAR TURN – In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish,” Asha makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. The all-new musical-comedy is helmed by Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (“Encanto”). “Wish” opens only in theaters on Nov. 22, 2023. © 2023 Disney. Wish takes place in Rosas, a magical land off the Iberian Peninsula. “Our heroine, Asha, lives in Rosas, known as the kingdom of wishes,” said co-director Chris Buck. “People come from everywhere to give their wishes to a magical king who promises to grant their deepest desires – someday. Only he can decide which will come true and when.”

BEST WISHES – Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish” is set in Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true. The film introduces Asha, a sharp-witted idealist who’s invited to see first-hand where King Magnifico keeps the wishes of those who’ve entrusted him with their deepest desires. Featuring the voices of Academy Award® winner Ariana DeBose as Asha and Chris Pine as Magnifico, the all-new musical-comedy is helmed by Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (“Encanto”). “Wish” opens only in theaters on Nov. 22, 2023. © 2023 Disney. “We have been inspired by so many iconic films over Disney Animation’s 100 years, especially stories where we explore the power of someone with a wish, combined with the conviction to make that wish come true,” said director Fawn Veerasunthorn. “Being able to honor that legacy with this incredible story and these amazing characters has been a joy for our entire team.”
