In Your Dreams is a resonant and visually rich animated feature about Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and her younger brother Elliot (Elias Janssen). Stevie sees her sibling as a nuisance and is also distressed over her parents’ (Simu Liu, Cristin Milioti) fracturing relationship. When the Sandman (Omid Djalili) enters their lives to offer a perfect family, their lives take an understandably intense turn. Filmmaker Alex Woo talked to Deepest Dream why he wanted to shed a different light on how we view our dreams and nightmares.

”I really wanted to ground dreams a little bit,” said Alex Woo. “With nightmares, the things that have been the most challenging moments in my life where I’ve been at my lowest – those are the moments when I actually learned the most and that I’ve grown the most as a person.”

“My loved ones, my family and friends have come together to help me get through those moments,” added Woo. “There’s something so beautiful about that and I think nightmares really do help us. They help us get through life and prepare us for life’s uncertainties and and unknowns. So yeah, I wanted to really flip the charge on those two ideas and concepts.”
