Hunting Jessica Brok, running at 134 minutes, stars Danica Jones as the titular character, a former Black Ops soldier who is being targeted by Lazar (Richard Lukunku), a warlord who wants his pound of flesh. “It was brutal,” said Jones, who relished the experience of playing such an intense and fully formed character. Before shooting began in South Africa, Danica Jones and Richard Lukunku trained for several months to perfect their fight choreography.

“So we got all the fight choreography at the boxing gym, and then (director Alastair Orr) is like, ‘Here is the terrain of South Africa,” said Jones. “What was interesting about that was our bodies showed up for us, and I think almost pushed the performances forward and made them more real.”

Playing Jessica Brok enabled Jones to discover parts of herself that she didn’t even know that she “had to encounter.”

“I gave it everything,” added Jones. “It up-skilled me. It was the first time I’d ever done stunts (and) I’d never done an action (film) before. There were so many things that I need to up-level in myself. I gave her everthing. Everything.”

As for a possible sequel to Hunting Jessica Brok (the end hints at a follow-up), Jones concluded: “Any day – let’s go!”
