Now available to buy or rent on Digital, Twisted centers on a con artist (Lauren LaVera) whose life takes a turn for the worse after a surgeon (Djimon Hounsou) kidnaps her. Darren Lynn Bousman, the filmmaker behind Saw II and Spiral, directed the feature and he talked to CinemAddicts host Eric Holmes about his latest horror-thriller!

Darren Lynn Bousman has directed his share of horror-thriller, and Twisted offered a new “twist” (corny pun intended) to the proceedings.
“The movie kind of begins with this weird crime caper (and) quirky heist thing,” said Bousman. “It reminded me of Ocean’s Eleven. “Like the split screens and the wigs and all of that kind of stuff. Then it slowly became a horror movie. And I liked that idea of doing a genre flip by the end of the first act.”

Another intriguing element behind Twisted lies in the moral ambiguity of the main characters. “That was the main reason I wanted to make the movie,” said Bousman. “I loved how there was not a clear cut villain or hero. They were just this murky shade of gray. Depending on who you sided with, that will determine who you believe to be antagonist or protagonist.”
