CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey completed season three of Netflix’s The Diplomat. Having been a fan of Keri Russell’s previous series The Americans, Purkey also had good things to say about The Diplomat (which co-stars Rufus Sewell). Check out his review in our post!

With Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford part of The Diplomat ensemble, the comparisons to The West Wing are inevitable. In his review, Bruce Purkey said The Dipomat is a hybrid of The West Wing and a spy thriller. Do you agree with his assessment?
One of the starting plot points in season three deals with a power struggle that might be brewing between Kate and Hal. “Is Kate gonna become the new vice president and will her husband be able to handle that ego hit, or will he become the vice president,” said Purkey. “Because, he’s got his own cache in that world. So that is your basic setup. You’ll find that answer out very quickly in the first couple episodes, and then the rest of the season becomes how does the relationship either survive or not survive? The new dynamic of one of them being possibly the vice president and just whatever intrigue is going on for this season, which is pretty good.”
