Filmmaker Brian Skiba (“The 2nd,” “Dead Man’s Hand”) once again assembles a talented ensemble for his latest feature “Clear Cut.” Set in the Pacific Northwest, the storyline centers on Jack (Clive Standen), a man who is earning money from cutting timber. When he becomes the target of a brutal assault, he must find his way back to civilization or perish in the woods. CinemAddicts co-host Eric Holmes interviewed Skiba, who gave us insights on his prolific filmmaking career.
“It’s a lot of fun, said Brian Skiba. “It’s funny because I think sometimes I look at the guys that get five years for one project and I’m like, man, that would be kind of nice. But at the same point, that would seem like a lot of slow down time. I get asked to direct a lot of projects that are taking off very quickly. And so I don’t always get the same amount of prep. You know, the budgets aren’t necessarily sky high, and so it’s a give and take. And so I think the best way I approach it is that ultimately, at the end of the day, I’m just a filmmaker. I love making films.”
The ensemble includes Stephen Dorff, Tom Welling, Jesse Metcalfe, Lochlyn Munro, and Alec Baldwin. As a fan of previous Skiba movies (“Pursuit,” “The 2nd,” “Dead Man’s Hand”), I’ll definitely be watching “Clear Cut.” Feature hits theaters, Digital and On Demand July 19.
