Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas attended the NBCUniversal Press Tour earlier this month to promote Manifest. During the roundtable interview, I asked them to name their favorite movies (Roxburgh picked The Pelican Brief and Dallas went for The Shawshank Redemption). “For me a good film is like looking at a diary of a random person and getting into their head,” said Melissa Roxburgh. “The good movies really allow you to experience someone else’s pain, or laughter, or happiness like moments you haven’t experienced in your own life but it allows you to really get into that with another person. And I think that’s what we’re all trying to do as humans.”

Roxburgh didn’t watch a ton of movies growing up, and it was The Pelican Brief (starring Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts) which first got her attention.
“(The Shawshank Redemption) is one of my all time favorites,” added Josh Dallas. “That story between those two men. That relationship – it was something I grabbed on to and loved so much. And the storytelling of that and the way it’s shot and those two actors. But there are so many films that I love.”
