Singer/actress Bridgit Mendler joins the second season of Undateable as Candace, an eager and naive bartender who, as the actress says, sticks out like a “sore thumb” amidst the show’s sarcastic crew. “I’m just finding my character,” said Mendler, whose work includes the beloved family series Good Luck Charlie and the animated feature The Secret World of Arrietty . “And I feel the pressure to know who she is immediately. You dive into the first episode, and that’s going to be on air. It’s not like you get a practice episode – from the beginning, everyone is going to see my mistakes so I’m just trying to be comfortable with that.”
The good news for Mendler is that the ensemble is very “supporting” and “encouraging.”
Along with acting, Mendler has also carved out a flourishing music career. In the video below, she explains how singing has been an intuitive process, a quality which helped shape her album “Hello My Name Is…” (co-star Bianca Kajlich is also in the vid):
Undateable begins season two on Tuesday, March 17 (NBC, 9 pm et/pt)
