Turn Every Page: The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb hits DVD on April 11 via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The entire CinemAddicts crew (Bruce Purkey, Eric Holmes, and I) recommend this engaing and informative documentary. The film is now out on Digital, but in my opinion this is worth adding to your physical media collection.

The lifelong collaboration between author Robert Caro and his longtime editor Robert Gottlieb is chronicled in Turn Every Page. Lizzie Gottlieb (Robert’s daughter) directed and produced the 114-minute documentary which delves into Caro’s works The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York and the Lyndon Johnson books (which includes The Path to Power). Fans of Caro have been eagerly awaiting the fifth and final volume of his masterwork .

Caro’s passion for reasearch and analysis as well as Gottlieb’s love for taking on new challenges shine through. Their creative arguments, as this project suggests, can get downright heated. Overall, it’s a very intriguing watch and I am looking forward to rewatching Turn Every Page: The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb.
