Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, The Batman) stars in Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut American Fiction. The trailer is pretty funny, and the cast is top notch. Check out the American Fiction trailer and share your thoughts!
Thelonious “Monk” Ellison is a writer who is not gaining traction with his novels. Upon witnessing the popularity of Sinatra Golden’s (Issa Rae) book, which is highly stereotypical, Ellison pens his own outlandish story. The catch, however, is that Ellison intended the book to be a joke, but his version of “american fiction” becomes the talk of the town.
Will Ellison succumb to the ravages of fame and riches? Or will he return to his true calling of actually penning an authentic tale? Written and directed by Cord Jefferson, American Fiction won the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The ensemble includes Erika Alexander, Tracee Ellis Ross, John Oritz, Adam Brody, Keith David, Leslie Uggams, and Sterling K. Brown.
Check out American Fiction in select theaters December 15 or when it expands nationwide starting December 22!
