CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey recommends the Italian feature The Last One For The Road on this week’s podcast. Now playing in New York (Film at Lincoln Center, IFC Center), the film is a meandering hangout narrative that Purkey said is “low on plot and very high on character.” There is also a bunch of drinking involved and some engaging conversation. Check out Purkey’s review for further insight on The Last One For The Road!

Carlobianci (Sergio Romano) and Doriano (Pierpaolo Capovillo) tour the Venetian countryside drinking from place to place, and during their crawl they meet a shy architecture student named Giulio (Filippo Scotti).
Every tavern offers the promise of one last drink, but good company leads these three men on a free-flowing and hopefully diverting experience.
“(The Last One For The Road) was very enjoyable,” said Bruce Purkey. “And I didn’t think it would be, but it just grew on me and I was never bored. I just kept wanting to hang out with these guys and I kept rooting for Giulio. I also liked the rough edges and kind of shambolic nature of Doriano and Carlo . . . I really did have a good time while I was there with these people.”
