Set in 1750 Austria, a religious woman named Agnes (Anja Plaschg) who is growing weary of her list of chores and expectations from the local villagers. Her frustations eventually lead to evil thoughts, and she believes violence may be a way out of her torment.
“The Devil’s Bath” is reportedly based on historical court records, and the film’s narrative is pretty shocking. The re-release spotlights its honor of being Austria’s Selection for the Academy Awards (Best International Feature Film).
