As witnessed in Edge of Tomorrow, Emily Blunt is an unyielding force to be reckoned with. That physical and emotional resolve should come in hand playing an FBI agent in Sicario, which makes its debut this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (“Prisoners,” “Enemy,” “Incendies”), the story centers on Kate (Blunt), the aforementioned agent who’s chosen by a task force official (Josh Brolin) to bring some semblance of justice to the borderland drug wars. Benicio Del Toro (who along with Brolin worked on Inherent Vice) is the enigmatic consultant who heads up the task force.
“Sicario,” which also stars Jon Bernthal (Fury, Mob City) opens in select theaters September 18 and then goes nationwide September 25.
