Director Robert Butler’s Night of the Juggler is hitting theaters for the first time in 40 years thanks to Kino Lorber. A new 4K restoration of the 1980 feature, starring James Brolin and Julie Carmen, hits New York’s IFC Center August 1. The movie will also open September 4 at The Aero Theatre in Los Angeles.

Set in the late 1970s New York City, Night of the Juggler centers on Sean Boyd (James Brolin), a former cop who is chasing down the psychopath (Cliff Gorman) that kidnapped his daughter.Â

Based on William P. McGivern’s (The Big Heat, Odds Against Tomorrow) novel, the movie co-stars Richard S. Castellano, Dan Hedaya, and Mandy Patinkin.Â

Sidney J. Furie, the filmmaker behind the underrated Marlon Brando Western The Appaloosa, was the original Night of the Juggler director and was replaced by Robert Butler (Up the Creek, Turbulence).
