Unless you’ve led a charmed life, high school is oftentimes an extremely testing and soul crushing experience. Thanks to its memorable moniker, the animated film My Entire High School Sinking Into The Sea has my attention. Details on the film and its release is available after the jump!

Directed by cartoonist Dash Shaw (New School), the project centers on Dash (Jason Schwartzman) and his best friend Assaf’s (Reggie Watts) attempts to expose a cover-up created by the school’s administration.

The teenagers, who ply their writing skills at their little read school newspaper, are aided in their quest by a fellow know-it-all student (Lena Dunham) and the lunch lady (Susan Sarandon). Maya Rudolph is the voice of Verti, the editor of the Tides High School newspaper.

The trailer gives a taste of the mixed media aesthetic of the movie, which should feature its share of memorable lines (for example, “Dude, just lift the bookcase!”).

Rated PG-13, the 77-minute feature opens April 14 at the Metrograph Theatre in New York and the Landmark Nuart in Los Angeles.
