Whether it’s songwriting or performing in front of a live audience, Julia Golden is locked in to her music career. Golden advanced past the Blinds of The Voice: Battle of Champions with Kelly Clarkson as her coach. Golden, who performed “Strawberry Wine” during the Blinds, spent over two years traveling the country and performed over 500 shows. That hectic touring schedule obviously took a break with her time on The Voice, and Golden talked to Deepest Dream about that experience.

One of this season’s early highlights was seeing Julia Golden picking which artist would be her coach, and she was surprised when Kelly Clarkson gave Reba McEntire a call. “I had  mentally prepared to talk to John and Kelly and Adam,” said Golden. “I knew that was happening. I was ready, but I was not mentally prepared to talk to Reba McEntire. That reaction was completely genuine. I just had no idea what to do with myself. But it was one of the coolest moments of my entire life, and just to know that a legend in country music was involved with my blind audition is such a blessing.”

Reflecting on The Voice, Golden was appreciative about the diversity of artists who took part in the season. ”I have met so many people from so many different walks of life and many different genres of music experiences,” said Golden. “There were people like me that were gigging artists that have been working towards doing this their entire life. We had people that had done Broadway and national tours, and then we had other people that were just college students who had a passion for singing that really wanted the opportunity to share that with the world. It was really cool to see all those different perspectives. It has definitely changed my life and changed me as a person.”
