Having been a fan of Eva Husson’s 2015 feature Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story), I’ll be looking forward to catching Palme d’Or nominee Girls of the Sun when it hits Blu-ray, DVD, and digital platforms on August 6 via Cohen Media Group.

Girls of the Sun is inspired by the true story of Yazidi women who took arms against ISIS in 2014. Ex-lawyer Bahar (Paterson’s Golshifteh Farahani), the leader of an all-female battalion in Kurdistan,  is determined to find her son and liberate her hometown from ISIS extremists at any cost. Emmanuelle Bercot (Polisse) co-stars as Mathilde, a French journalist who is embedded with Bahar’s group of fighters.

Extras on the Blu-ray and DVD versions include a Q&A with director Eva Husson.
