In theaters February 24, Cocaine Bear is inspired by the 1985 true story of a black bear that digested cocaine from a drug runner’s plane. Going on a “coke-fueled rampage” for more “blow . . . and blood,” this bear should be one of next year’s most anticipated features.

(from left) Daveed (O’Shea Jackson, Jr.), Eddie (Alden Ehrenreich), Officer Reba (Ayoola Smart) and Syd (Ray Liotta) in Cocaine Bear, directed by Elizabeth Banks.

Directed by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect 2) and penned by Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Cocaine Bear is being labeled as a dark comedy. It will be great to see late actor Ray Liotta in the feature, which also includes Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alden Ehrenreich, Margo Martindale, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Christian Convery-Jennings.

Ehrenreich has my favorite line in the trailer (“the bear, it f**king did cocaine”), and this type of humor is something that Banks should knock right out of the park. The trailer’s use of White Lines (Don’t Do It) is also “pitch perfect” (stupid pun intended).

Let us know if Cocaine Bear is on your “to watch” list when it hits theaters February 24!!
