I love purchasing Blu-rays and DVDs to give to members of the CinemAddicts Facebook Group and CinemAddicts Facebook Page. I am making things a bit more organized, at least for this week, as I have three Blu-rays to give away. Details on how to win one of the three (Fast & Furious 6, The Sum of All Fears, Duplicity) is below!

‘Without Ward’ Interview: Cory Cataldo and James Duval Explore “Outside of the Box” Storytelling

0

If you know a thing or two about James Duval (The Doom Generation, Donnie Darko), then indie filmmaking is probably your bag. Without Ward writer/director Cory Cataldo found a kindred spirit in Duval, and their pair talked to Deepest Dream about their eccentric and memorable “new” feature.

Find Your Film 108: ‘Mothering Sunday,’ ‘You Are Not My Mother,’ ‘Stunt Rock’

0

This Find Your Film episode is a testament to the hard work of hosts Bruce Purkey and Eric Holmes. The only movie I watched was You Are Not My Mother, and my betters carried the rest of the program sans a hitch. A couple of excellent movies are discussed on this episode, take a listen/watch below (Video and audio podcast are in the post).

‘Ultrasound’ Interview: Rob Schroeder Talks Life As Simulation and The Manchurian Candidate

0

During my misspent youth I was shaken and definitely stirred by John Frankenheimer’s The Manchurian Candidate. Director Rob Schroeder cited that film as an influence from his mindbending thriller Ultrasound, which is now available On Demand. Full video interview with Schroeder is in the post.

Will Beinbrink Loved “Epic Scope” Of ‘The Exorcism of God’

0

If you’re looking for an exorcism thriller that is not a slow burn but simply just goes for it, The Exorcism of God might be worth your time. I appreciated director/co-writer Alejandro Hidalgo’s willingess to push the envelope, and lead actor Will Beinbrink delivers a committed performance as a morally conflicted man of the cloth. Beinbrink talked to Deepest Dream about his love for the film, appreciation for Dead Poets Society, and also delivered some (in my opinion) wise thoughts on Bitcoin!!

Tom Stourton And Tom Palmer Talk ‘All My Friends Hate Me’ And Writing Partnership

0

All My Friends Hate Me centers on Pete (Tom Stourton), a well meaning guy who is invited by his upper crust college chums for a weekend of fun to celebrate his birthday. Stourton co-wrote the surprisingly dark and witty comedy with his longtime writing partner Tom Palmer. The pair talked to Deepest Dream about the secret behind their successful collaboration.

Chelsea Lopez and Rainey Qualley Explore the Inner Workings of ‘Ultrasound’

0

Hitting theaters and On Demand March 11, Ultrasound is a mindbending thriller which will have cinephiles perplexed right until the very end. Figuring out the puzzle box behind this movie was a worthwhile experience for me, and I asked co-stars Chelsea Lopez and Rainey Qualley about their takes on the Rob Schroeder directed feature.

THE LONG WALK Interview: Mattie Do Talks Lao Journey And Uncompromising Storytelling Approach

0

Mattie Do has the distinction of being the first female Laos director, and her features have received worldwide acclaim. Released in 2019, The Long Walk is finally available in the U.S., and this meditatative horror/thriller simply floored me. My Find Your Film mates and myself praised the heck out of the feature, and I’m hoping as many people I know get to see this resonant and unfailingly bracing narrative. Do is also one of my favorite interviewees, as her candid and convivial demeanor instantly won me over. You’re going to love her and this movie, so let’s not waste any more words and get to our talk!

‘The Last Mark’ Interview With Reem Morsi, Shawn Doyle, And Alexia Fast

0

Directed by Reem Morsi, The Last Mark centers on Keele (Shawn Doyle), a hitman who does not want to kill an innocent bystander named Peyton (Alexia Fast) after a recent killing. Bryce Hodgson is Palmer, Keele’s psychotic partner who is on on Keele and Peyton’s train. Find Your Film co-host Eric Holmes and I praised The Last Mark on our latest episode, and if you’re a fan of gritty action thrillers, this one delivers. My video interview with Morsi, Doyle and Fast is below!

Edward Drake Brings Film Noir Passions To ‘Gasoline Alley’

Gasoline Alley centers on Jimmy Jayne (Devon Sawa), a Los Angeles tattoo artist who is behind the eight ball. Two detectives (Luke Wilson, Bruce Willis) tag him as the prime suspect int he murder of several women, and Jayne battles the odds to clear his name. Director/co-writer Edward Drake brings his lifelong love for film noir to Gasoline Alley. As a fellow noir enthusiast, this conversation was right up my “alley” (Drake’s references to The Big Sleep and The Third Man immediately won me over). Full video interview is below!
