The great news for Eddie Murphy and “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise fans is that the latest installment absolutely works. “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” is a first rate action comedy that overflows with nostalgia but does not get lost in the mix. The picture stands on its own thanks to solid performances from franchise newbies Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as a cop), Taylour Paige (as Axel Foley’s estranged daughter) and Kevin Bacon (playing the resident bad guy). Check out my video review in this post!
Filmmaker Catherine Breillat (“Fat Girl,” “The Last Mistress”) is known for pushing the envelope. That aesthetic continues with “Last Summer,” a family drama/thriller about an attorney’s (Léa Drucker) torried affair wi th her seventeen-year-old stepson Theo (Samuel Kircher). Olivier Rabourdin co-stars as the lawyer’s unsuspecting (and loving) husband.

First off, the final trailer was released earlier today, so please check it out. The big reason I’m seeing this movie is it was directed and penned by “Pig” filmmaker Michael Sarnoski!
