When bad things happen to me I make it a point to make sure something positive comes out of it. The current situation is a great opportunity for that method to take effect.

On Episode 5 of “Flick City,” actress Sidney Flanigan talks about finding the courage to play the lead role of Autumn in “Never Rarely Sometimes Always.” Co-star Talia Ryder talks about her love for “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Witness for the Prosecution.” Both actresses have a bright future ahead of them (and they’re both terrific in the film). Movie is now playing in New York and Los Angeles and goes wide April 3.
Director Katharine O’Brien picks “Chinatown” as her favorite film, and she explains why director John Cassavetes was an influence in her feature “Lost Transmissions.” Los Angeles set film, now out in theaters and On Demand, stars Simon Pegg and Juno Temple.
I briefly touch on underrated actress Rhonda Fleming. Several of her credits (“The Killer is Loose,” “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral” and “Simply Scarlet” are discussed as we close out the episode!

Never Rarely Sometimes Always is the intimate portrait of Autumn (Sidney Flanigan), a teenager who travels to New York City with her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) to get an abortion. The feature, which won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, is a bracing and immersive look at how two young women persevere through an extremely challenging experience. During our phone interview, Ryder talked about how director Eliza Hittman’s attention to storytelling detail actually impacted her own life.
Week 40 is here, more than a third of the way to the end of this feed and my self imposed deadline to be focusing on the the next one has arrived. Had a conversation with my distributor and learned a few things and I’m going to start pitching myself anywhere I can including right here, right now. Here is one of the videos I created at T-Mobil for Topcoder. Below is a link to all the platforms Groupers is available on where ratings are always accepted. Thanks for listening! “Schedules are Rad” shirts coming soon! I joke.
KT (Eiza Gonzalez) and Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) in the RST Lab in Columbia Pictures' BLOODSHOT.
As much as I love Marvel and DC, opening up more comic book universes on a cinematic level is always a welcome sight. Vin Diesel is the titular character in Bloodshot, a feature that is a central figure of Valiant Comics.
The Outsider: The Complete First Season hits Blu-Ray and DVD on June 9 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The series is currently available on Digital.
Dwayne Johnson is Frank and Emily Blunt is Lily in Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE.
Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson team up for Disney’s Jungle Cruise, an Amazon set tale that follows the adventures of sarcastic skipper Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) and researcher Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt). Pictures from the film and the trailer are below!
We, as human beings, can often times be borne ceaselessly into the past (to quote The Great Gatsby), but in the final trailer for Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff is all about the present. In her own words, Romanoff is “done running.” Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
Holly Slept Over, written and directed by Joshua Friedlander, is not an innocuous romantic comedy that you can simply forget minutes after the credits roll. Thanks to its oftentimes raunchy humor and engaging performances by the ensemble, Holly Slept Over is an acquired taste that appealed to my sensibilities.
On the latest episode of Flick City I review the new films “Swallow” and “Hope Gap.” Both feature solid performances (Haley Bennett headlines “Swallow” and Bill Nighy and Annette Bening topline “Hope Gap.”
Also in the episode, “Hope Gap” writer William Nicholson talks about his love for the films “Lawrence of Arabia” and “It’s A Wonderful Life.” My full interview with Nicholson is available for our Patreon subscribers.
Lastly, I give two discs (Blu-rays or DVDs) from my collection to members of our CinemAddicts Facebook Group. Become a member to continue our movie talk conversations!
