One of this year’s most memorable “The Voice” moments came when Angie Rey sang “Penthouse” with coach Kelsea Ballerini on the Blinds. Rey went on through the Battles and Knockouts under Team Kelsea, and then she got saved by Michael Bublé for the Playoffs. Rey talked to Deepest Dream about why “persistence” is an important quality to have in the music industry. She also elaborates on the deep connection between her Hispanic heritage and country music. Check out the full interview below!

One of the most important aspects of Angie Rey’s “The Voice” journey was collaborating with coach Kelsea Ballerini. “She lives by authenticity,” said Rey. “And I think witnessing that in person, we had a lot of conversations on and off the screen. It was awesome to know that you can be really specific and share about your life and hopefully be a sounding board or a place where people find comfort in your music and in you.”
With Playoffs just around the corner, Rey is now on Team Bublé, and obviously she can’t say too much about what’s to come. “Michael Bublé is just so fun and funny and personable and kind,” added Rey. “And even if I was a really, really bad singer, I don’t think he would have the heart to tell me! So I am really excited for y’all to see what what we did and how we worked on it. And it was really special. I’m really happy with it.”
