Singer-songwriter Alt Bloom received chair turns from Queen Latifah and Riley Green for his rendition of Maren Morris’ “The Bones,” and he chose Latifah as his coach. Bloom and fellow Team Queen member Morgan Lett successfully tackled Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” during the Battles, and their vocal stylings were the perfect blend. Tonight Bloom is among the artists competing on the Cut Week episode of The Voice. Check out our full interview with Bloom, who also talks about his own music, in the post below!

A Memorable Moment With Queen Latifah

Alt Bloom said he wanted a coach that he could vibe with the most, and Queen Latifah was a great fit. “Vibe is like the definition of Queen Latifah,” said Bloom. “The second she starts expressing herself, the room really changes. She has a way with words (and) she has an energy about her – she’s beautiful. When she starts to speak, you really tune in immediately.”

Latifah also sang to Bloom after his Blinds, and of course that was one for the books. “It was something that was kind of unbelievable in the moment,” said Bloom. “Then looking back at it, I was surprised that I handled it without falling apart up there. I was surprised that I sang back to her looking at her. The fact that it got all to air and they showed all of it was just a wonderful experience. Queen gifting to me (is something) to have for the rest of my life.”

Alt Bloom’s Music

Listen to Alt Bloom’s latest EP Welcome (Back). One of the tracks, “Leave You,” was penned during his time on The Voice and its arrangement was inspired by his work with Lett on “Ex-Factor.”

A Return To Montana And The Voice Outlook

Along with his work on The Voice, Bloom also made a huge transition with his move back to Montana.  ”Since moving out of (Los Angeles) and moving back to Montana and getting in touch with my roots, I really have taken things a touch less seriously and things with a grain, things, things with more of like a grain of salt approach,” said Bloom, who lived in the City of Angels for 12 years.  ”When I came out and did The Voice, I really the whole time was telling myself like, ‘Of course do this respectfully, put your all into it, but don’t feel like it’s a the most serious thing in the world. Enjoy this process as much as you can.’ And it really helped me come into my own.”
