Dek of Hearts jumped out of the gate on The Voice by picking Niall Horan as their coach. The group received a four chair turn on The Blinds and were expected to go with Reba McEntire, and their decision led McEntire to jokingly fall to the floor. I asked Dek of Hearts about that moment during the interview and the group also talked about how their faith and transparency with each other has led to the group’s success.

Kollin Bailey reflected on the logical choice of going with Niall Horan as their coach.
”We prayed for one chair to turn and it got four, which was crazy,” said Bailey. “But the reason why we were kind of leaning towards Niall is because he was a part of a group and he’s super young and ambitious. (That speaks to) the life of us being a group more so than the other coaches.”
“Normally Reba has a stacked team of amazing country artists,” added Bailey. So we didn’t necessarily want have to compete against all of the other country artists.”
As for what keeps them focus and grounded, Emily Clapp cites their faith as one important foundation.
“We’re all striving for excellence in our craft,” said Clapp. We all believe that our voices were a gift given by the Lord. We try to do the best we can with it and we try to live in humility. It is very helpful having the three of us – we’re all very honest with one another.”
“With the trio, I think that we’re super personable and we’re very level headed,” said Dylan John. “We don’t think that we’re like the next best thing.”
Even if they don’t think they are the next best thing, Dek of Hearts are surely busy with upcoming dates down the road. Plus, check out their 2025 single “Taillights” on Spotify:
