The Disaster Artist is one of my favorite films of 2017, and it’s a humorous and insightful look at making movies. In a FandangoNOW interview, director/actor James Franco listed his favorite “About Hollywood” movies. Check out the list, as well as my review of The Disaster Artist, below!!

James Franco’s list is pretty solid, although it’s hard to rank Boogie Nights, in my opinion, over such classics as Sunset Boulevard, Chinatown, and Sullivan’s Travels. I’m glad he also included Adaptation, which features one of Nicolas Cage’s finest hours, in the mix.
Here’s James Franco’s “About Hollywood” list:
-
Boogie Nights
-
Ed Wood
-
Sunset Boulevard
-
Singin’ in the Rain
-
Swingers
-
Sullivan’s Travels
-
A Star is Born (with James Mason)
-
Barton Fink
-
Adaptation
-
The Bad and The Beautiful
-
Some Like it Hot
-
Shampoo
-
Beverly Hills Cop
-
Chinatown
-
Rebel Without a Cause
