Wim Wenders Retrospective Launches At IFC Center

A touring retrospective of  director Wim Wenders’ work, which includes 12 of his films (11 of which are 4K and 2K restorations) will premiere at the IFC Center in New York starting August 28. The 15 city tour will  also include stops in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle, and Philadelphia. 

The films featured in Wim Wenders: Portraits Along The Road are as follows: The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty KickAlice in the CitiesKings of the RoadWrong MoveThe American Friend , The State of ThingsTokyo-Ga, Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire, Notebook on Cities and Clothes, Until the End of the World – Director’s Cut, Buena Vista Social Club.

In 2012, Wim Wenders and his wife created the Wim Wenders Stiftung in Düsseldorf with the intent of restoring Wenders’ films and allow them to be accessible worldwide. The digital restoration of the movies started in 2014, with image processing undertaken by ARRI Film & TV under the supervision of the Wenders.

Wenders’ last film was the documentary The Salt of the Earth which he co-directed with Juliano Ribeiro Salgado.
