Opening in theaters May 29 following an April 30 premiere on DirecTV, Barely Lethal (PG-13, 100 minutes) centers on Megan Walsh (True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld), a teenage special ops agent who fakes her death to assume the role of an exchange student in high school.
Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Alba, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), Dove Cameron, and Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) co-star in the feature, which is directed by Fanboys filmmaker Kyle Newman.
After returning to the Western genre last year with The Homesman as well as starring opposite Kevin Costner in the action flick 3 Days to Kill (she was also terrific in 2013’s underrated Ender’s Game), it’ll be a nice change of pace to see Steinfeld in lighter, teen driven fare.
