The Voice artist Peyton Kyle wowed Reba McEntire during the Blinds and she turned her chair for the Gainesville, Florida resident. Kyle advanced through the Battles and tonight he faces Austin Gilbert on the Knockouts. Check out our full interview with Kyle below, as he talks about his band Quiet Fire, continuing The Voice even after appendix surgery, and why he has found a second home in Gainesville.

”Reba McEntire is very personable, so just be yourself and enjoy the ride,” said Peyton Kyle on what makes McEntire a great coach. “She’s very sweet and she can offer advice for anybody in any genre. I’m an R&B/Soul singer. We have country, Soul, Pop, (and) Rock on our team.We have everything. And she’s able to coach all of it beautifully.”

Shan Scott and Peyton Kyle delivered a first rate performance of Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream” it’s over during the Battles. Kyle moved to Gainesville in 2022 to pursue his music dreams, and during the interview he reflected that the song meant a lot to him “for many reasons.” “Shan Scott and I, we both just kind of took that emotional element and we wanted to just make this an incredible performance. We (wanted to) perform for each other and elevate each other’s performances. I feel like that’s what we did. And we created a moment that I think I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

A big part of Kyle’s life centers on working with his Quiet Fire bandmates, and he has some valuable insight on creating a band. “I think the first thing you would tackle is, is making sure that you have a good relationship with the people you’re trying to start a band with,” said Kyle. “Most often you see bands that fail are because they’re just trying to pick the best talent and they worry about the connection last. Quiet Fire started with a couple of guys that were two of the first guys I met when I got to Gainesville. I met them at an open mic. Eventually we just started jamming out of the house together and cutting up and we realized that not only do we enjoy the music, we (also)enjoy each other’s time. That makes everything else so much easier.”
