Now out in theaters and available on Digital, Double Life centers on a widow (Pascale Hutton) who teams with her husband’s mistress (Javicia Leslie) to uncover why he was murdered. Martin Wood, a filmmaker Hutton has worked with on When Calls The Heart and Sanctuary, directs. Hutton talked about Double Life, reuniting with Wood, working with Javicia Leslie, and the gratitude she feels for When Calls The Heart’s success. Though Double Life hangs its hat on the suspense thriller genre, its heart lies in the possible friendship of the two women (Pascale Hutton, Javicia Leslie) who loved the same man. The chemistry between Hutton and Leslie are palpable, and I am even hoping for another Double Life installment. Hutton echoed that sentiment.

“Javicia and I clicked right out of the gate,” said Hutton. “And also just personality wise, I think the two of us just gelled. That always helps when off-camera, you get along. That bleeds onto your on camera relationship. That was a real bonus. I loved working with Javicia and I would love to see a sequel!”

Along with suspense thriller fans, Double Life should appeal to folks who have supported Hutton on her latest (and long-running) series. The power of community and friendships are among the elements that drives Hallmark Channel’s When Calls The Heart.

“I feel so grateful for how the show has been received by the audience,” said Hutton. “Our audience has grown every single year. That’s almost unheard of. That a show, going into season eleven, (has) new fans. It means we are making something that is really resonating on a very deep level with people.”
