Now playing in theaters, You Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine is a documentary that spotlights a star-studded tribute of the late artist. The event took place October 2022 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, and producer Fiona Whelan Prine talked about the documentary and how director Michael John Warren was able to capture the “incredible intimacy” of the concert.

Artists featured on You Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine include Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Tyler Childers, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Isbell, and Bob Weir.

”I guess the biggest challenge was that we had so many artists and we couldn’t include them all,” said Fiona Whelan Prine. “We wanted to create some kind of a narrative around John (Prine) as a human being, as a songwriter and how he might have helped other singer/songwriters in their careers. So we kind of kept that in our mind as we went through all of this footage and we chose the performances that we thought best represented different aspects of his career.”
