Alex Brown battles fellow Team Niall artist Liam Von Elbe on The Voice. Earlier in the competition, Brown performed a standout rendition of “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” and chose Niall Horan over Snoop Dogg as his coach. Brown talked to Deepest Dream about his experience on The Voice and drawing inspiration from other artists. Plus, he also has a new single out called “Desert Moon.” Give that song a listen and check out our full interview with Brown!

Although he looked calm and collected during his Blinds performance of “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart,” Alex Brown admitted to having nerves before the performance. “It’s just kind of a buildup,” said Brown. “”My anxiety – it builds up until it just kind of . . . (it’s) like flipping a switch. Right before I’m about to do it, it’s hard to really say what goes on because it was a lot of nerves util the doors open up. And then it was just sort of like flipping a switch and I was like, ‘Okay, this is what I’m supposed to be doing – it’s what I’m here to do.’ And I just gotta do it.”
Brown’s experience on The Voice enabled him to learn from others, and that was one of his main takeaways from the competition. “I think the biggest thing is the environment of being around other artists and getting getting closer to them and view what they’re doing behind the scenes, so to speak,” said Brown. “A lot of the times with an artist, what you see is what they release and put out there. But seeing people’s thought processes behind what they’re doing as an artist and the kind of music they’re making – I learned a lot from that. It definitely gave me inspiration to keep doing what I’m doing and to be unique.”
