The official synopsis of Sudan, Remember Us says the documentary focuses on a “lost revolution.” Director Hind Meddab traveled to Sudan in 2019 to shoot the sit-in protest at Khartoum’s Army headquarters. Although CinemAddicts co-host Bruce Purkey wanted “a little more” with the documentary, he still recommends Sudan, Remember Us. Check out his review in our post!

Director Hind Meddab met young activists while filming in Sudan, and the documentary shows their progression over four years. Reviewer Bruce Purkey describes the film as more of a “tone poem” and he wanted a bit more background on the history of Sudan.

“You do come back to different students over and over again, but not consistently enough for me,” said Purkey. “I wanted this to be one of those movies where they pick maybe two or three (individuals) and follow them straight on through. I don’t know if logistically that was even possible for the filmmaker because it seems like (events) on the ground is always changing.”

“I wanted a little more from it, but I’m really glad it exists,” added Purkey. “For people who like documentaries and want to learn about things in places they don’t know about, (Sudan, Remember Us) does that job.”
Sudan, Remember Us is now playing in theaters. Check out Purkey’s review on YouTube and/or our CinemAddicts podcast:
