Premiering tonight on Nickelodeon (7:30 pm et/pt), “Wylde Pak” centers on siblings Jack (Benjamin Plessala) and Lily (Nikki Castillo), half-siblings who are spending quality time over the summer whether they like it or not. Lily had her sights on a gaming room and a ton of alone time, but now she must make sacrifices. Jack wants to continue his adventures with his content creating mother Alice (Gillian Jacobs), but she sends him to live with the Paks for some much needed maturation. Check out my interview with Plessala, Castillo, Jee Young Han (Min-Ju Pak – the mom), Jean Yoon (she plays the grandmother), and Ben Pronsky (William Wylde – the dad).

Asian American representation is one of the many elements (along with its effective comedic tone) that makes the Nickelodeon series a standout. “I wanted to be a part of (‘Wylde Pak’) because I didn’t have this kind of representation growing up,” said Jee Young Han, the matriarch of the Paks. “Wild Pak” is such a reflection of my life that I didn’t get when I was younger, and it’s a reflection of my life now.”
Co-star Ben Pronsky, who plays William Wylde (the dad), reflects on “Wylde Pak’s” visual look. “ I haven’t seen animation style like this before,” said Pronsky, who also sees a bit of anime elements to ‘Wylde Pak.’ “I think it’s really unique. There’s a warmth to the palettes that they use that really sort of lends itself perfectly to the story itself.”
