One of Chris Pine’s best performances came with 2016’s Hell or High Water, and now he’s reteaming with Hell filmmaker David Mackenzie with Outlaw King. Do you think Pine will make a convincing Robert the Bruce? Check the just released images and trailer below!

Outlaw King centers on the true story of Robert the Bruce (Chris Pine), the determined warrior who seized the Scottish crown by emerging victorious against seemingly impenetrable odds. The feature co-stars Stephen Dillane as Edward I and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Robert’s comrade in arms James Douglas, will debut as the Opening Night Film at this year’s Toronto Film Festival on September 6. Netflix will release the movie on their platform (and in select theaters) on November 9.
I’m always hesitant when more than one writer is attached to a film (Bash Doran, James MacInnes and David Mackenzie are the credited scribes, and Mark Bomback and David Harrower are credited with “additional writing”). But I was skeptical about Pine’s previous films The Finest Hours and Z for Zachariah (an overlooked film!) and ended up digging both. I’m betting the Pine and Mackenzie collaboration works once again, and the riveting trailer definitely supports that notion.
