Korin Bukowski’s Battle Rounds performance of “Samson” with Chase Kerby was one of this season’s most sublime and evocative moments, and their recorded version of the subtly wrenching Regina Spektor track reached similar heights. Bukowski, a Miami based artist who’s also studying pre-med, will be featured on tonight’s The Voice knockouts, and she talked about what we can expect from her performance.

“With the Knockouts, I think people will be pleasantly surprised,” said Bukowski, who goes up against fellow Team Gwen member Summer Schappell on tonight’s Knockouts. “It’s in a similar realm as to what I’ve been doing, but I think it’ll be pretty good (laughs). It’s a very emotional performance, and I hope it’s good, I don’t know of it’s going to be good. When I’m up there, I go into auto-pilot so I don’t remember anything, so when I watch it (tonight) it’s the first time I’ll really hear it . . . I’m really praying that it sounds okay.”

During the interview, Bukowski’s self-deprecating sense of humor was refreshingly on display, and along with giving a preview of tonight’s Knockouts performance she also talked about working with Chase Kerby on “Samson” (“He’s a gentleman, top to bottom”), putting her own life and emotions into her music, and getting the chance to represent Miami!
