Alexandra Daddario, who will be seen this summer opposite Dwayne Johnson in San Andreas, has signed on to director William H. Macy’s road trip comedy The Layover

The picture centers on best friends (Daddario, Kate Upton) whose vacation plans are altered after their plane is rerouted thanks to a hurricane warning. During an extended layover in St. Louis, the pair battle over a guy’s affections.

“It was a lucky day for us when Alexandra said yes to The Layover.  She’s a wonderful actor, a great comedian, the consummate professional. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s stunningly beautiful,” said Macy, who directed last year’s Billy Crudup/Antone Yelchin drama Rudderless.

The script was penned by David Hornsby and Lance Krall, previous collaborators on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Macy, who toplines the Showtime series Shameless, will have a co-starring role in the picture, which also features Rob Corddry, Kal Penn, Matt Jones, and Matt Barr.

Previous credits of Daddario includes HBO’s True Detective, Texas Chainsaw 3D, and Percy Jacksons & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
