One of the wonderful aspects of working on Chicago Fire for actors Jesse Spencer (“Matthew Casey”) and Monica Raymund (“Gabriela Dawson”) must be the positive reaction the show has received over its successful run. Spencer, however, had a different prediction on how the show was going to be perceived.
Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire (NBC, 10 pm et/pt) continues the investigation on the fire which killed Shay (Lauren German), as Severide (Taylor Kinney) discovers an unexpected source that may provide important information on the case.
Speaking of sources, Chicago Fire technical advisor/fireman Steve Chikerotis has been invaluable to the cast and crew of the production. Check out the video below as Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer, and Eamonn Walker talk about Chikerotis’ (he retired from active duty in November 2014) impact on the show:
Chicago Fire stars Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, and Eamonn Walker took part in last week’s Television Critics Association Press tour in Pasadena, and during the radio roundtables the trio were in good spirits. Although the storylines from Chicago Fire are often tragic (and ultimately resonant), it was refreshing to see the actors bring a dash of humor and levity into the proceedings.
Case in point: Eamonn Walker playfully coaxes Jesse Spencer to recount an experience which had the actor use his own knowledge as “Chicago Fire” member Matthew Casey.
Check out the video below as Spencer talks about remaining cool under pressure while being stuck in an elevator at the Capitol Building.
It was great news today for three NBC dramas, as Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Grimm were all renewed through the 2014-15 season. Buoyed by a stellar cast which includes Eamonn Walker, Monica Raymund, Lauren German, Taylor Kinney, and Jesse Spencer, Chicago Fire heads into its third year next season.
Spencer had previous success before on television thanks to his long run in House, and even with all that steady work, he understands that nothing in show business should ever be taken for granted.
During a Television Critics Association interview with Spencer last year, he talked about his career. “As an actor, (it) can always be over tomorrow,” said Spencer, who plays Lt. Casey on the show. “It can happen to anybody. However, I believe that I can have a long running and successful career. I like what I do. I’ve really enjoyed my work, and I’d love to have more and more challenges as life goes on, and I’m thankful for what I have.”

This week’s episode, “When Things Got Rough” continued to set the table for the Rebecca Jones (Daisy Jones) arc, as she finally discovers that her firefighting days may be over thanks to her dad. Do you think Rebecca will weather the storm and stay with Chicago Firehouse 51, or is it the end for Ms. Jones? Feel free to comment below!
Chicago Fire airs Tuesday nights (NBC, 10 pm et/pt).
