Sicario, yet another stunning feature from director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Incendies), hits Blu-ray and DVD January 5 via Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

The storyline centers on Kate Macer (Emily Blunt), a principled FBI agent who’s determined to capture a drug lord and bring him to justice. The war on drugs is a tricky thing, and working with a manipulative government task force official (Josh Brolin) and a seemingly amoral consultant (Benicio del Toro, in a role that should garner him an Oscar nod) leads Kate down a highly compromised path.

Encoded in Dolby TrueHD, the Blu-ray also contains a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, which will especially come in handy during the film’s explosive opening act (sorry for the mini-spoiler!).

The Blu-ray and Digital HD special features include the featurettes “Stepping into Darkness: The Visual Design of Sicario,”  “Blunt, Brolin & Benicio: Portraying the Characters of Sicario,”  “Battle Zone: The Origins of Sicario,” and  “A Pulse from the Desert: The Score of Sicario.”

Have you seen Sicario? If so, what did you think? Is it one of this year’s best films? Feel free to comment below!!
