On this episode of CinemAddicts, we cover the documentary Dave Stevens: Drawn To Perfection, A Wounded Fawn and Hunt. Bruce Purkey throws down with a movie recommendation (the Naomi Watts headlined Down). Purkey and Eric Holmes also review the “What’s in the Box” flick Super Fuzz. Listen to our podcast below!

Dave Stevens: Drawn To Perfection (Samuel Goldwyn Films)

Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection centers on the artist who created the hit comic book series The Rocketeer. Directed by Kelvin Mao, the documentary focuses on Stevens’ life and career which featured successful forays into the comcis, animation, film, and television worlds. The Rocketeer director Joe Johnston, actor Thomas Jane, and comic book artist Adam Hughes are among the luminaries interviewed. I highly recommend this documentary, and even contributed to its Kickstarter (which ends December 2).

All three of us recommend Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection, which hits Digital and On Demand December 2nd. My interview with Mao and producer/editor Rob Chatlin is featured on the podcast as well starting at the 73:50 mark (the review is at 35:33).

Directed by and starring Lee Jung Jae, Hunt centers on the dangerous chess match between two high ranking officials wh are trying to uncover a North Korean spy.

KCIA Foreign Unit chief Park Pyong-ho (Lee Jung Jae) and Domestic Unit chief Kim Jung-do (Jung Woo Sung) believe that the other person is the mole. These suspicions lead to an investigation which tears apart both departments. Hunt is filled with several standout action scenes, and the storyline is also top notch. Eric and Bruce gave Hunt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️; I gave it a 4.5/5 rating.

Hunt review stars at 12:47 mark:

Hunt hits theaters and VOD on December 2.

A Wounded Fawn – Photo Credit: Shudder

A Wounded Fawn centers on Meredith (Sarah Lind) a museum curator whose romantic getwaway with a charming guy (Josh Ruben) turns nightmarish. Turns out the dude is a serial killer, and Meredith is his latest victim. Directed and penned by Travis Stevens, this art horror feature, shot on 16mm, is surreal and highly original narrative. Stay for the end credits!!

Now streaming on Shudder, A Wounded Fawn garnered postive reviews from all of us. Let us know your thoughts on this tense and, at times, bonkers horror thriller!!

A Wounded Fawn Review starts at 22:48 of our podcast:

Stevens, Lind and Ruben discuss the end credits scene. That video is available exclusively for our CinemAddicts Patreon Members.

Other films covered on the podcast is the Naomi Watts headlined thriller Down (aka The Shaft) and the Sergio Corbucci directed comedy Super Fuzz. For more info on Down director Dick Maas, go to his official website.
