Now airing exclusively on Hulu, the new Paramount Digital Entertainment series Resident Advisors is headlined by Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars, Party Down) and Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For). Last week I sat down with the actors to talk about their new show, which is executive produced by actress Elizabeth Banks, features Ira Ungerleider (Friends) as its showrunner.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Although head advisor Olivia (Chung) is as ambitious as they come, having ne’er do well co-workers like Doug (Hansen) makes her job at a sex crazed dormitory a bit more challenging. If stupid (I mean that in a good way, fyi), occasionally nonsensical comedy is your cup of tea, “Resident Advisors” should do the trick.
My video interview with Hansen and Chung is below, and they definitely scored brownie points for helping me sync the audio and video from my two Zoom machines (the H4N and Q2HD) with the requisite hand clap.
Here’s the Interview Breakdown:
:17 – On the comedic writing behind Resident Advisors being a reason why they did the show.
1:27 – The pace of the 18-day production of “Resident Advisors,” which was shot on Emerson College.
2:30 – Working with showrunner/writer Ira Ungerleider
3:10 – Jamie Chung talks about the challenges of working in Comedy.
4:58 – Chung briefly talks about “Sucker Punch.”
5:30 – Advice on Acting (Hansen humorously comments “sleep with everyone”).
6:40 – Ryan Hansen on working with the same people on different projects.
7:04 – Hansen and Chung give their description of “Resident Advisors” (“Full Throttle” and “Anal” were among their keywords – tongue firmly in cheek of course).
